Growing in Sand & Compost in Containers - Does it work?

We know it can get expensive to get a good mix for containers. Which is why we experiment with different types of container mixes to see which one is the best bang for your buck!

Sand, Compost, Perlite based potting mix

Radish

Cilantro Plant

Today we will look at a sand based potting mix with the following recipe:
  • 40%  play sand
  • 40% compost
  • 20% perlite
Now the perlite is optional, but highly recommended as it significantly improves drainage of the container mix. We grew several plants - radish, tomato, cilantro to determine how well it works. Check out the results in this video:

See you soon. Happy Gardening!
